ANNOUNCEMENT: Logan to join prestigious Waseda programme in Japan

21 Sept 2024

Logan will enrol in Waseda University from this Autumn.

One of Japan’s leading institutions – Waseda University – has extended an offer for former MP Mark Logan to enrol in its famous Japanese studies programme from this Autumn, 2024.

Waseda boasts outgoing Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, Haruki Murakami (novelist) and Zhou Enlai (statesman),  among its Alumni, and has taught scores of Japanese and international students since its founding in 1882.

Mark Logan, who already holds the top Mandarin Chinese qualification, and speaks a smattering of Shanghai Dialect, started learning Japanese after a serious cycling accident left him bed-bound almost 2 years ago.

Speaking on his announcement Logan said:

“The nerdier part of me has won out and I simply cannot wait to throw myself at an intensive Japanese programme this autumn”

Having passed the JLPT N5 in December 2023, but failing the JLPT N4 in July 2024 Logan joked:

“I’ve got a score to settle! I failed the higher level N4 two months ago by one mark. ONE-BLOODY-MARK…but failing is failing”

Mark will continue consulting for his clients, public speaking and media commentary while located in Japan.
