People's Republic of China turns 76
Mark Logan had the privilege of attending the Chinese Embassy's reception commemorating the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China - an evening that respectfully bridged two cultures.

The grand celebration brought together over 500 guests, creating a vibrant tapestry of diplomacy and cultural exchange. Wang Qi, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, and Seema Malhotra, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, both delivered thoughtful addresses that underscored the importance of UK-China relations.

Logan observed how the guest list reflected the event's significance, with representatives from British society, Chinese-funded organisations, and Chinese students mingling in an atmosphere of genuine warmth. What was truly memorable was the collaborative cultural performance featuring both Chinese and British elements, showcasing the rich artistic traditions of both nations.

Logan, has an extensive career specialising in UK-East Asia relations, having previously worked at the British Consulate in Shanghai and served as Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary China Group. He was named by Quartz as one of the UK's leading China Watchers. Fluent in Mandarin and conversant in Shanghai dialect, Logan now advises companies, universities, and NGOs on political risk.
