Executive Education programme for EMBA students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with Cambridge University.
Mark Logan joined a panel discussion in the House of Lords as part of an Executive Education programme for EMBA students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Logan spoke alongside HM's former Trade Commissioner to China, Richard Burn, and UK-China business leader John McLean OBE, Chair of the China-Britain Business Council's UK-China Business Development Committee.
The discussion, followed by afternoon tea, gave the visiting scholar-professionals an insider's perspective on UK-China relations from three practitioners with decades of combined experience across government, trade and business.
Drawing on his own background - from his time as a UK Member of Parliament and FCDO official to over two decades working across China - Logan addressed how UK-Asia relations are evolving, and what this means for business leaders navigating the region.
The panel offered candid reflections on the opportunities and complexities of engaging with China today, and how Hong Kong and mainland executives can build stronger bridges with UK partners.
The session formed part of a broader programme designed to give HKUST's EMBA cohort direct access to senior UK figures with first-hand policy and commercial experience.
Hosting the discussion at Westminster added a distinctive dimension, allowing students to engage with speakers in a setting steeped in UK parliamentary history.
Logan said he was glad to support the initiative and to share perspectives with a new generation of business leaders thinking seriously about the UK-China relationship.
