Logan Addresses Next Generation of UK-Japan Scholars and policymakers
Former APPG Japan Vice Chair speaks at LSE Japanese Postgraduate Students Society summer gathering
Mark Logan, alumnus of both the London School of Economics and Japan's highly regarded Waseda University, served as guest speaker at the LSE Japanese Postgraduate Students Society's summer event, bringing together students from universities across the United Kingdom.
The evening showcased the depth of academic collaboration between British and Japanese institutions, with attendees including researchers specialising in international development, TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development), and an expert in the constitutional and legislative evolution of the House of Lords.
Logan, who previously served as Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Japan, emphasised the critical importance of cultural exchanges between the UK and Japan, particularly among emerging leaders from both nations. His perspective, shaped by his educational experiences at both LSE and Waseda University, provided valuable insights into the strengthening of ties between East and West.
"I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Yusuke-san, Airi-san, and all the members who so graciously hosted this event," Logan remarked. "These cultural exchanges between the next generation of leaders in the East and West are not just important, they are essential in a time of global uncertainty."
The gathering highlighted the vibrant academic community fostering UK-Japan relations, bringing together incredible expertise in international affairs, constitutional studies, and development policy.
The LSE Japanese Postgraduate Students Society continues to serve as a vital platform for academic and cultural exchange, facilitating meaningful dialogue between British and Japanese scholars across multiple disciplines.
