Irish Ambassador to Japan meeting

23 Nov 2024

2024 Ireland Japan Business Awards

Damien Cole, the Irish Ambassador to Japan since 2022 and Mark Logan met on the margins of one of Ireland's most important business events in Asia.

Mr Cole and Logan discussed the growth in bilateral ties between Ireland and Japan, through both the vibrant diaspora community in Asia’s second biggest economy, and the appetite for Irish culture, food and travel emanating from Japan.

Ireland will have a significant presence at the Osaka Expo being hosted in 2025.

The Irish Business Awards was an apt appetizer for what’s to follow for Ireland-Japan commercial developments, especially with Osaka just around the corner.

Each year, the Ireland Japan Chamber of Commerce (IJCC) presents business awards to key companies making outstanding contributions to Ireland-Japan business relations.

Notes:

Damien Cole is Ireland’s twelfth Ambassador to Japan.

Prior to taking up his role as Ambassador of Ireland to Japan, he was serving as Director of the Middle East and North Africa Unit at headquarters, and prior to that, as Director of the Policy Planning Unit.

A career diplomat with over 27 years of experience with the Irish Foreign Service, Damien has previously served as Ambassador of Ireland to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and non-resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, as well as Ambassador of Ireland to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and non-resident Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Lebanese Republic and the Arab Republic of Syria.
