Remarkable concentration of expertise, bringing up to four decades of experience in Sinology
Mark Logan has been honoured with an invitation to participate in the distinguished 2025 European and American Sinologists Programme, joining an elite delegation of China scholars for an intensive cultural and academic exchange across China.
The comprehensive programme features strategic visits to three of China's most significant regions: the dynamic metropolis of Shanghai, the culturally rich Fujian province, and the nation's capital, Beijing. This carefully curated itinerary will provide participants with diverse perspectives on contemporary China whilst deepening their understanding of the country's historical foundations, as well as latest societal developments.
The international delegation brings together accomplished scholars from Germany, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Malta, Switzerland, the United States, Hungary, and Belgium. This diverse cohort represents a remarkable concentration of expertise, with many participants bringing up to four decades of experience in China studies and Sinology. The group's collective knowledge spans multiple disciplines, including political science, linguistics, ethnomusicology, and ancient history, creating rich opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration.
This convergence of varied academic backgrounds and research interests promises to foster meaningful exchanges and fresh insights into Chinese society, culture, and development. The programme serves as a vital bridge between Chinese and international academic communities, facilitating mutual understanding through direct engagement and scholarly discourse.
"I would like to thank CAFIU, the Chinese Embassy to the UK and all hosting organisations for this special week of multilateral engagement," Mark stated, expressing his gratitude for this exceptional opportunity.
The programme underscores the importance of continued international academic cooperation and represents a significant milestone in Mark's ongoing engagement in cultural diplomacy.
