Former MP Mark Logan guest speaker on China-West relations at famous Cambridge Intelligence and Security conference

The Cambridge Security Initiative (CSi) chaired by Sir Richard Dearlove, former Chief of MI6, links business, government and academia. CSi offers analysis of current and future threats to a range of clients.


Mark Logan, former MP, was a guest speaker at this year’s CSi conference entitled: Intelligence and National Security in a Changing World.


Mark spoke on the topic “Is conflict with China inevitable”, fielding questions from some of the brightest and best students from across the globe, all taking part in the month-long International Security and Intelligence Programme (ISI).


Leading China specialists Dr Nicola Leveringhaus and Angus Knowles-Cutler made this a very high-octane panel.


Dr David Oakley chaired the panel and made a series of pinpoint interventions.


Mark introduced some of the latest thinking on how UK-China relations may develop under a new Labour administration, US-China competition, and drew on his experience having worked in the British Foreign Office and as a former Vice-Chair on the All-Party Parliamentary China Group.


Joining him during the conference were leading experts including former Director of GCHQ, John Foreman CBE former Defence Attaché Moscow and Kyiv, Angus Knowles-Cutler Vice-Chairman of Deloitte, a former Director of the CIA, and in closing it was great to hear from Professor Michael Goodman and Professor David V. Gioe.
