Logan Engages with China's Top Diplomat in Northern Ireland

Mark Logan, former Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Northern Ireland Office and British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly member, recently met with Mr Li Nan, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Belfast, for discussions on areas of mutual interest between China and Northern Ireland.

Mr Li Nan assumed the role of Consul General in September 2024, bringing with him a distinguished career in Chinese diplomacy. Holding a Master of Science degree, Li has proven an energetic presence in Northern Ireland's public life since taking up his post.

Over the past eighteen months, the Consulate under his leadership has been notably active across a wide range of sectors. Li has engaged with local councils including Derry City and Strabane, Fermanagh and Omagh, and Causeway Coast and Glens, as well as meeting with the leadership of National Museums Northern Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland. He has championed educational and cultural exchange, attending Chinese New Year celebrations at schools and colleges across the region, and delivered a keynote address at the Northern Ireland Energy Summit.

In July 2025, Li marked the tenth anniversary of the Consulate's establishment with a signed article in local media.

Logan welcomed the opportunity for dialogue, reflecting the importance of maintaining open channels of communication across a broad spectrum of international relationships.
