Mark Logan had the pleasure of meeting with an important Japanese parliamentary delegation.
Members of the travelling delegation included Mr Masatoshi Ishida, Mr Hiraguchi Hiroshi, Mr Nobuyuki Fukushima and Mr Takayuki Ochiai.
A broad range of topics were covered, including opportunities and issues in UK-Japan bilateral relations, UK domestic politics including how the UK Parliament scrutinises parliamentarians in terms of political campaigning and the mechanisms by which British MP’s run their private offices.
It’s encouraging to see so much political interest emanating from Japan, in the consistent attempts to further understanding and opportunities between our two island nations.
Mark has been learning, bit by bit, more about the political process in Japan and some of the challenges the political system and society are grappling with there. And indeed how the two countries may be able to support one another.
