Ambassador Zheng has served as the PRC's Ambassador to the UK since 2021
Mark Logan met with H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, the People’s Republic of China’s chief representative in the UK, to discuss a broad range of themes including the international security environment, UK-China relations, and economic developments in both countries.
The meeting occurred against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, coinciding with recent UK local elections and a Westminster by-election last week.
Commenting on the engagement, Logan said:
“Ambassador Zheng has been a stabilising presence in UK-China relations since assuming his diplomatic role in 2021. I share his optimism for addressing both challenges and opportunities constructively, especially in times of significant change at home and abroad. It’s important to remember the profound achievements of both our countries in culture, philosophy, and economic and political contributions to the world. If we get this relationship right, we can foster a more stable international community.”
Ambassador Zheng Zeguang has enjoyed a distinguished diplomatic career, serving in the Caribbean and the USA, as well as holding significant roles within China. Notably, he studied in Cardiff during the 1980s.
Mark Logan’s background includes service at the British Foreign Office in China, and during his time as a UK parliamentarian, he served as Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary China Group.
