Former German Vice-Chancellor et al spoke at Atlantic Dialogue
Philipp Rösler, Former Germany Vice-Chancellor, the UK’s Ambassador to China Caroline Wilson, Ronnie Chan, Honorary Chair, Hang Lung Properties and Mark Logan the former Member of Parliament, all delivered remarks at the Caixin London Atlantic Dialogue.
The United Kingdom is China's third largest trading partner, second largest investment destination and third largest source of foreign investment in Europe, and is also one of the popular destinations for Chinese companies to "go global". China's strategies of "Enterprises Going Global", RMB Internationalization and Financial Market Opening-up mean that China will continue to regard London as a priority partner. London is the world's largest offshore RMB trading center after Hong Kong. At the same time, thanks to the "Shanghai-London Stock Connect" mechanism, London has also become the first choice for Chinese companies to raise funds.
In the context of intensified great power competition and slowing globalization and technological disruption, Caixin Media convened approximately 80 politicians, professionals, academics, investors, and entrepreneurs from the UK, EU, Asia, and the United States in London for a one-day discussion on current-affairs topics such as China-US-Europe trilateral trade and investment relations, geopolitics, technology, energy transition, and global health challenges.
In his remarks Logan stated that:
“The UK is uniquely placed to work across the US-China-UK dynamic, and can be a positive influence in international affairs for the benefit of the British public”.
